Canada has pledged $4 million funding to Marie Stopes International during the She Decides International Conference in Brussels.
The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, announced funding of up to $20 million to five organisations in total. Canada’s investment will support organisations with a proven track record of delivering results in the area of the sexual and reproductive health.
The funding is part of Canada’s comprehensive approach to closing existing gaps in reproductive rights and healthcare services for women. This includes strengthening national health systems, investing in modern methods of contraception, and supporting women’s right to access safe and legal abortions, and post-abortion care.
We are incredibly grateful to the Government of Canada for their support, and for championing the rights of women to have children by choice, not chance.
