Head of Clinical Support
Irene began her career as a nurse, spending some time working for the British National Health Service (NHS) before turning her attention to family planning and reproductive health, in which she has been working since 2010.
Now the Regional Medical Advisor for Southern Africa, she provides clinical leadership and strategic input to assist Country Directors and clinical leads in building systems for training and supervision that support regional programmes and partner capacity building.
Where shortcomings in programmes or partners are identified, Irene is able to offer specific and intensive clinical support to programmes. She also offers regional Training of Trainers (ToT) in specific areas, such as infection prevention, medical emergency management, safe abortion care and family planning.
